One family’s journey to escape the ordinary in pursuit of adventure.

Meet Erin, Stu, Ellie & Lily – a family who decided that the correct response to everything that 2020 brought to our world was to hit the reset button.

WE ARE SELLING SKOOKUM!

In July 2022, we travelled to Northern Ireland to visit Stu’s homeland. After witnessing our girls thriving in the presence of their grandparents, as well as other family and dear friends, we came to the easy conclusion that we needed to provide the girls the opportunity to grow up in closer proximity to the love we found here. We are deeply conscious of the fact we simply do not know how long we have with each other on this earth, and as such, we felt it was important to make these decisions now. Our eldest was also keen on starting ‘real school’, and we thought it a good opportunity to test out the incredible education system that is found here.

Sadly, it makes more practical sense for us to sell Skookum, as she isn’t much use to us all the way away in Mexico. While ending our sailing sabbatical considerably earlier than either of us expected, it is our hope that Skookum can bring joy to her next owners in the way she did for us.

A quick note about cruising in Mexico: we had anticipated that by this time we’d be at or through the Panama canal, but we have simply loved Mexico too much to rush it. The Sea of Cortez is the most incredibly special cruising ground, and we would highly recommend it to anyone seeking gorgeous anchorages, jaw-dropping wildlife, and the best sunsets you’ve ever seen. I will be continuing to update our blog with the back stories of our travels through Mexico, so please feel free to read through for a taste of our adventure.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So, throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
